Report on the 4th AME golf challenge
On Friday 1st September we welcomed Richard Jenkins, CEO of The ETS Group and their Chairman Jim Masters in our 4th AME match play challenge at the Exeter Golf and Country Club.
AME were off to a fast start with Simon winning the first and Steve winning the second hole to go 2 up. A great par from Jim on the 3rd bought it back to just one. The next 3 holes were halved before a par from Steve on 7th put AME 2 up. A fantastic 3rd shot from Richard into the 8th green was followed by a great par saving putt to put it back to just one. The 9th was halved to setup a very close and exciting back nine.
A par from Simon on the 10th was enough for AME to go back to 2 up, but once again ETS hit back with Richard winning the 11th. The next 3 holes were halved as we headed to the 15th tee for the moment of the round. Richard somehow managed to find the only tree on the right of the guard fence to the 14th green and stood in amazement as his ball was bouncing back towards him and finally ended up a few feet behind where he teed off. He could probably never repeat that again. Steve went on to win the 15th hole to put AME back to 2 up.
The 16th hole was half which meant ETS had to win the 17th to keep the match alive. However AME secured the half to win the match 2&1.
A really enjoyable match that went to the wire, with both Richard and Jim enjoying the new 2016 Exeter Golf Course. Stuart Kew and Scott Singleton are still leading the way.
Next up on Friday 15th September is Justin Quick from Symbios and Neil Sear.
