AME Team take part in It’s a Knockout Event
On Saturday 3rd September our team “AME All Stars” took part for the second time in the “It’s a knock out” challenge which was organised and in benefit of FORCE (Friends of the Oncology and Radiotherapy Centre, Exeter). The charity supports cancer patients and fund-raises tirelessly to ensure that anyone diagnosed with cancer gets the best possible support and treatment close to home.
This year the AME All Stars decided to go in fancy dress as Where’s Wally, which was worth valuable extra points for the team. Points were not just awarded for dressing up or doing well in each event, money raised by the teams gave extra points, as well as bringing a mascot and joker cards.
The event which took place this year at Topsham Rugby club was supported by 400 people in 40 teams, who all took on the 11 obstacles and challenges. Unfortunately the rain that was predicted arrive in the afternoon and soaked us all. That didn’t put a downer on events though as all the afternoon events had an element of water anyway.
Dan who only joined AME 2 days before said “It was really enjoyable and well organised event, it enabled me to get to know the AME team which was great. I thought everyone showed great team spirt and we picked up a very respectable points total. I look forward to more team events to come”.
AME managed to score a total of 144 points which was good enough for 7th place which was a great team effort.
Matt said “Such a great event, brilliant selection of challenges varying from team co-ordination to pure luck staying upright on the inflatables, thoroughly enjoyed the day. Well done to the winning time The Jolly Todgers”
AME, along with the other 39 teams helped towards raising around £15,000 for FORCE which is a great result.
