Report on the 5th AME golf challenge
Report on the 5th AME golf challenge
On Friday 15th September Justin Quick from Symbios and Neil Sear from Thompson Jenner Financial Services joined Steve Westaway and Simon House for our 5th AME match play challenge of 2017 at the Exeter Golf and Country Club. With the sun shining on the 1st but with grey clouds in the sky and a weather report that gave rain, the guys were hoping for a dry round.
It was a very friendly start with both the first holes being halved before Simon won the 3rd hole for AME to go 1 up. The next 2 holes were also halved and a great iron shot on 6th by Simon set him up nicely to win the hole to go 2 up. The 7th was halved and then a great putt from Justin won the 8th to bring it back to 1 up for AME. It remained at 1 up until the 11th hole where a par from Steve was enough to take the hole and take AME back to 2 up. A birdie from Simon on the 12th hole then made it 3 up with another birdie on 14th to go 4 up with 4 to play.
Neil made a great par on dog leg 15th, one of the hardest holes on the course, to reduces AME’s lead to 3. With the on/off rain not spoiling the day the guys headed to 16th with umbrellas up and taking cover under the trees to avoid the deluge of rain. After a couple minutes and no let up the guys took their shots and headed to the green. A great 8 footer for par from Steve could not be beaten from either Neil or Justin and AME took the win 3&2. With the rain still pouring the guys heading in with many other golfers on the course.
Despite the rain on their final hole, the teams had a great match and enjoyed the day. Stuart Kew and Scott Singleton are still leading the way.
Next up on Monday 2nd October is Hannah Armstrong and Jon Mitchell from Thomas Westcott.
